Sony PlayStation VR1 Sunset Announcement

To our PlayStation Community: Sunsetting further development of Synth Riders on PS VR1

Today, we have an important announcement to share. We have made a difficult decision to end the future development of Synth Riders on the PlayStation VR1 headset. We’d like to take a moment to explain these changes and what they mean for you and the game’s future on PlayStation.

First and foremost, we want to reassure you that Synth Riders will remain fully playable for those who already own it on the PlayStation VR1 headset, along with all your purchased DLC. You’ll still be able to immerse yourself in the rhythm world you love!

Regrettably however, there will be no further content updates, either paid or free, for the PlayStation VR1 version of Synth Riders. Our small, dedicated team has always aimed to give players the best possible experience, no matter which headset you play on. With the launch of PlayStation VR 2, for our independent studio to continue to deliver the kinds of experiences players deserve, we must focus our efforts on the current and next generation VR headsets.

We know that many of you have been eagerly anticipating multiplayer functionality for the PS4 version of the game. We want to sincerely apologize for not delivering on this promise, despite our long-held intention to do so, and for how long it’s taken us to announce it.

Our presence in the PlayStation 4 store will continue, so players will still have the option to purchase the PlayStation VR1 version of the game. We believe it’s important for current and future VR enthusiasts to still be able to join the Synth Riders community and enjoy this unique experience.

As we remain committed to the PlayStation ecosystem, we will continue support for players who are moving to next generation headsets. Our free upgrade from PlayStation VR1 to PlayStation VR2 versions of Synth Riders including all DCLs remains available for riders who are ready to take their music adventures to the next level. The PS VR2 version comes with cross-play Multiplayer and a lineup of new content and updates for many months to come.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding. We are incredibly grateful for the journey we’ve shared thus far, and we’re eager to continue shaping the future of Synth Riders together.
