The Synth Riders Devs Challenge YOU with The Challenges+ Update
The Synth Riders team challenges YOU! Think you’ve got what it takes to not just complete a song and earn a top score on leaderboards? We’re now throwing every trick at you to defeat you with our new Challenges+ feature, added to Challenges.
Everything from alien invaders that attack the rails to trip up your high score run. Maybe the on-screen notes will vanish. Or change colors.
Here’s the bad news (for you): We’ve recruited our own devious mastermind that’s been lurking in the shadows, the notorious hackerman-turned-Rider, T1M0, to crush any hope you have of winning.
MULTIPLAYER POWER-UPS COMING TO SOLO PLAY!
In Synth Rider multiplayer battles, players have been able to square off against each other like this for a while. Complete rails, earn power-ups, and throw obstacles at your opponent. If you haven’t played that mode before (you totally SHOULD!), think of it like Puzzle Fighter or Tetris 99. In those games, you complete lines and you send on-screen trouble to other players.
HOW DOES IT ALL WORK?
The Synth Riders dev team couldn’t leave well enough alone, though. We wanted to take you all on! The team ported over those same devious power-ups into Challenges+ mode – because, apparently, we don’t mess with you nearly enough. Now, with these instruments of (your) destruction in hand, T1M0 is on a mission to never let you win. Again.
Here’s SOME of the challenges you’re up against:
- Random colors – Randomizes the 4 colors to confuse you.
- Invaderz – alien invaders target you with their missiles, punch them or dodge to avoid them
- Warp – make the jump to hyperspeed as the gameplay stretches, speeds up and then slows down again
- Embiggen – make the notes a lot bigger
- Minimize – make the notes a lot smaller
- Prismatic – toggles the prismatic modifier changing the notes to rainbows
- Vanish – toggles the vanish modifier, makes the notes invisible and turns the rails into nodes
When do these devious attacks happen? That’s the beauty of it! While the dev team created the tools, T1M0 selects what will go into each track Challenge…and the game algorithmically drops those traps in the song at the perfect place to trip you up.
